Skiwi Plumbing & Trenchless

Underground Rough-In

Typically, when a structure is in the design phase and plans are being developed, the plumbing plans are included in the construction documents. The underground portion of a building’s plumbing system is installed during the first stage of construction, separate from the rest of the plumbing system. It is most common for the underground portion of the plumbing to be installed during the initial phase of breaking ground and is inspected and tested before being completely covered.
Skiwi can assist with the installation of the underground portion of a building’s plumbing system. If the removal of wastewater for the building is through a gravity drain system, this is where a lot of future headaches can be avoided. Proper slope and correct fittings should be a given during installation, however, one of the big challenges is keeping the pipe stabilized when concrete is poured. We ensure this is done by proper compaction of the pipe and communicating with the project’s General Contractor or owner and concrete finishers.
PVC is the most common material used in Virginia for a building’s underground plumbing system. Cast Iron pipe is also still used in some situations. PVC is less labor intensive, while cast iron is very stable once set. Both materials have their strengths.
Larger projects usually have plans, which would be needed to put together an estimate for a bid. If there are no drawn plans, for whatever reason, skiwi can assist in the layout/ design.
Repairing and replacing the in-ground plumbing already under a building can be labor intensive; This is because it can involve removing concrete and hand digging, since the pipe is entombed at this point. Trenchless methods can be a less intrusive option, if the issue at hand is a candidate.
There are many variables to account for when building a quote for the underground plumbing system of a building. The price for a new installation for a 3 bed, 2 bath home will cost between _$______ and _$______, whereas as a more complex commercial install will increase cost.
Repairs will be easier to estimate when more information is gathered during a phone call and/or site visit. Expect the price to start at _$_____ and up to _$_____ for a point repair. Sometimes, replacing sections is more economical than multiple repairs.
